This UNICEF initiative tackles child food poverty in sub-Saharan Africa, where millions of children lack access to diverse, nutrient-rich diets. The programme promotes local production and consumption of nutritious, safe, affordable, and sustainable first foods for young children, through three pillars: incentivising production, shaping supportive policies, and stimulating demand. It also aligns with climate action goals to mitigate and adapt to climate change impacts on child nutrition. Partnerships span governments, private sector, and global agencies to ensure systemic transformation of Africa’s food systems for children.
