The article presents an updated systematic review and meta-analysis of 32 randomized controlled trials assessing the effects of canola oil consumption on body weight, BMI, fat mass, and waist circumference in adults. Findings show that canola oil intake has no significant effect on body composition when compared to other dietary fats and oils. Despite its favorable fatty acid profile, canola oil does not induce weight gain or reduction. The authors emphasize that while canola oil is a heart-healthy choice, it should not be positioned as a targeted intervention for weight management. This research contributes to evidence-based dietary fat recommendations, underscoring the importance of holistic diet quality rather than isolated fat sources.
