This Korean study investigates links between low-carbohydrate diet patterns and hyperuricemia risk, using data from over 39,000 adults. Higher adherence to animal-rich and overall low-carbohydrate diets was associated with significantly increased hyperuricemia risk, especially among overweight individuals. In contrast, plant-rich low-carb diets showed no such association. The findings emphasize that diet composition, particularly the source of macronutrients, influences metabolic outcomes such as serum uric acid levels.
